The SHABBATTO folding mobility scooter, based on Movinglife's best-selling ATTO SPORT, revolutionizes independence for observant Jews with its innovative Shabbat-compliant mechanism (Shabbos mode) while offering unparalleled portability, comfort, and style for users of all backgrounds.

Transforming Michael's Spiritual Life with the SHABBATTO Mobility Scooter

A sudden and unexpected illness left Michael with a debilitating foot condition that made walking long distances excruciatingly painful. As a result, he became increasingly unable to participate fully in the Shabbat and Chagim services and festivities. Once an active and vibrant community member, Michael, deeply committed to his faith and traditions, now faced the reality of isolation and inactivity. Michael searched for a solution, determined not to let his condition define him. Then one day, he came across the Shabbatto Folding Mobility Scooter from Movinglife, an Israeli company selling in over 60 countries worldwide. At first, Michael was hesitant. Using a scooter felt foreign and reminded him of the clinical, impersonal equipment he had seen before. But when he tried the scooter, he changed his mind. The scooter wasn't just functional; it was beautifully crafted, amazingly engineered, and didn't look like a medical product.

With the scooter, Michael's life transformed. He could once again actively participate in Shabbat and holiday services, navigate the synagogue halls, attend celebrations, and socialize with friends and family. The joy of reconnecting with his community was profound. Family gatherings became more enjoyable as Michael no longer felt like a burden to his children and grandchildren, who previously had to push him in a wheelchair. Now, he could effortlessly visit family and friends for Shabbat and holidays, thanks to the scooter's compact design that fits easily into the trunk of his car. Beyond Shabbat, the scooter breathed new life into Michael's everyday existence. Simple pleasures, like a walk in the park or a visit to a café, were now within his reach. He even began to travel internationally, embracing a freedom he feared losing forever.

About the SHABBATTO Folding Mobility Scooter

The SHABBAATO is based on Movinglife's bestseller mobility scooter, the ATTO SPORT.

Originally Manufactured Shabbat Mechanism

Our Shabbat mechanism can easily and without tools be installed by the user, protecting the scooter's integrity and warranty. No outside installation or service is required (a savings of $1,200).

Not Just for Shabbat

While this scooter is approved for Shabbat and Yom Tov use, it can also be used anytime throughout the year. The SHABBATTO adapter can be plugged in and out in seconds, although many people prefer to leave it in all the time. The SHABBATTO adapter conforms the scooter to the halachic requirements, but unlike other scooters, it does not change its integrity or functionality. The adapter can be brought with you wherever you travel,  allowing you to travel to family or anywhere in the world for Shabbat and Chagim.

Halachically Enhanced

The ATTO SPORT user can easily—and without the use of tools—install the Shabbat remote control on the scooter’s handlebar and activate it before Shabbat. This action turns the SHABBATTO engine on but lets it operate in “crawl” mode throughout the Shabbat, consuming minimum power. This halachic principle is known as “continuous current modification.”

In Jewish Halacha, gramma—an indirect cause of a forbidden action on Shabbat—has spurred debate among prominent rabbinic authorities. Some authorities, such as Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, permit gramma in cases of significant need, like health or security, because the action is indirect and thus less severe than direct action. Rabbi Auerbach, a leading 20th-century Halachic authority, argued that, in specific circumstances, gramma provides a necessary leniency without directly violating Shabbat prohibitions.

However, others, such as Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, maintained a stricter stance, often discouraging reliance on gramma for everyday situations. Rabbi Feinstein emphasized that, despite the indirect nature, gramma often produces intentional, predictable results, which he viewed as inconsistent with the spirit of Shabbat observance.

The approach of using continuous current has gained broader acceptance because it effectively circumvents these prohibitions without falling into the grey area of gramma. Continuous current maintains a low-level energy flow in the circuit, allowing changes to be made without completing or breaking the circuit, thus sidestepping any direct or indirect forbidden actions. Authorities such as Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv endorsed this solution for its capacity to enable necessary modifications—such as adjusting lights or temperature—without compromising Shabbat laws. Since continuous current avoids both direct and indirect actions, it is more widely approved by Halachic authorities as a solution that aligns with Shabbat principles without the complexities associated with gramma.

The Shabbatto mobility scooter from Movinglife is unique in the market, as it is the only mobility scooter designed to use continuous current technology, a breakthrough that makes the SHABBATTO more halachically enhanced and sets it apart from the other Shabbat-approved scooters in the market. Unlike standard Shabbos devices that rely on the principle of gramma, which often raises Halachic concerns, the Shabbatto integrates a proprietary Shabbat device directly into the scooter’s system. This allows for precise control over the motor and other functions while maintaining a continuous current, ensuring that no direct or indirect prohibited actions are taken on Shabbat. By designing and building our own Shabbat device, we provide a solution that fully respects Shabbat restrictions without compromising mobility or independence, making the Shabbatto ideal for those seeking functionality and strict adherence to Halachic standards.

The scooter can only be used by someone designated as a choleh, in that he or she cannot engage in normal Shabbos activities due to mobility issues. An orthodox Rabbi must be consulted to decide whether a person meets that criteria.

Independence and Convenience

It is easy to use and conveniently folds into a compact suitcase size for simple storage. It easily separates into two parts in seconds, with the heaviest piece weighing just 37 pounds, making it easier to lift into your car trunk.

Go Anywhere with Your Mobility Scooter

Conquer any terrain with puncture-proof, shock-absorbing tires and a 4-inch ground clearance. It is also flight-approved, equipped with electronic stability control for added safety on descents and turns, ideal for air travel and cruise ships. With a driving range of up to 12.5 miles (25 miles with the XL battery), a top speed of 6.2 MPH, and a maximum weight capacity of 300 pounds, this durable scooter is designed for longevity.

Top-Notch Engineering

This scooter guarantees both comfort and durability. It offers ample legroom and a big comfortable seat. The ATTO SPORT is super portable and lightweight yet still rides like a heavy-duty scooter.

Unmatched Stylish Design

You deserve a mobility solution that doesn't just get you from A to B but makes you feel great while doing so. ATTO SPORT stands out from the crowd with its stunning design.
